Xenophobic Psychopaths
November 23rd, 2008 Posted in UncategorizedThe Wrathgate questline is simply awesome. I’m not going to spoil it for those who haven’t yet done it, but it’s a very much far-reaching and vast line that has visible results on the Dragonblight zone when you finish it. Quite awesome!
It involves the death of a major figure from lore, and the repercussions of that event everywhere else, culminating in a huge battle in Undercity alongside Varian Wrynn. To say that it’s amazing would be to give it its due. However, it also shows a side of King Varian’s personality that I never want to see again. He is a revenge-obsessed, warlike xenophobe. How long, I wonder, before he decides that all the non-humans in the world, including elves of all types, dwarves and gnomes, are equally untrustworthy? I’m vaguely aware of the lore reasons, but his reactions still seem way over the top.
At least the Forsaken are openly evil. There’s going to be a lot more War in the World of Warcraft soon, I gather.

From a horde point of view, the Battle of Undercity is equally great. I think all in all our glorious leader is a lot more goody two shoes than your esteemed leader.
Thrall breaks down UC’s defenses single-handedly calling on his powers as shaman, and then goes all depressed at the end after Jaina fixes things. As horde-player, you go out feeling like you have the most kick-ass leader in the world.

I’d trade Wrynn for Thrall. I’ll even throw in the gnome leader, as a buy one get one 50% tall deal!

Just finished this chain yesterday. It was every bit as awesome as you’ve said. Really the most fun I’ve had in WoW since helping old Marshall Windsor out.
And agree, Vrynn sounds like an idiot.

Ah dammit! I’ve entirely missed this questline! I must have missed an item that starts a quest? I didn’t do much in Dragonblight to be honest, really regretting it now, as I am only “friendly” with the Wyrmrest!
I have heard there is something that drops that starts the quest “A strange device”, will I still be able to get that, or do I have to be on a specific quest?

^Oh, I also have a strange feeling that I may have acciedently destroyed said device……
Do you think if i explain to a GM I could get another?

I don’t think it’s a drop. If I remember correctly, the first quest in the chain is at Stars’ Rest, and then takes you to the village near Naxxramas.
