The Rhythm Method
May 23rd, 2008 Posted in UncategorizedTime to work on my rotations, I feel. For the longest time, ever since I rolled Ziraxx nearly two years ago, until very recently, I’d been a button masher. Hammer the button for the next ability you want to use, rinse, repeat.
Thanks to recent innovations in furniture (read: I bought a new desk and chair), it’s become increasingly evident that such an action is going to be RSI-inducing, especially given my keybindings which use a combination of shift, ctrl and alt to bind almost everything I could ever possibly want to press to the left-hand side of the keyboard (When I say that I use a Microsoft Natural 4000 you’ll understand why).
So, slowly at first I’ve tried to get used to pressing only one button per global cooldown, and this goes well enough until I’m somewhere hectic like Mount Hyjal and I start hammering buttons left, right and centre again. So this is my task, gradually work the one keypress per GCD (plus, of course, shield block and Heroic Strike) method into every encounter, not just those where I have time to take stock of what I’m doing. It helps, and I notice the difference when I do it. It’ll just takes a bit more concentration until I get used to it.

I need to work on this too. Even worse, when things get hairy I don’t even remember to use shield slam or revenge and I only spam devestate and shield block.
