An Ex-Gnome Tank's World

Back to the Future, Part II

Colour me amazed. Last night was a much more pleasant experience in Mount Hyjal than I’d had in a while. Rage Winterchill went down smoothly, and though we had a few hiccups on Anetheron (I was tanking infernals, and ended up being slept right as the first one appeared. Add to that people nuking it before they should, and carnage ensued), we got him down second time too.

Kaz’rogal was, as usual, a walkover. Still no shield though.

And then we got to Azgalor. What a difference! It still took us two goes to get him down, but that was mostly due to a couple of small errors toward the start – we wiped at 2% thanks to an unlucky combination of one of the doomguard tanks (me) dying and a Hunter’s pet immediately pulling aggro and dragging a doomguard into the raid, so carnage ensued.

Second attempt went rather better. I MTed for two reasons: 1) the MT on the previous attempt had blown shield wall during the previous wipe, and it was still on cooldown, 2) He dropped offline during wave 8 of the trash anyway. It’s not too bad – just keep an eye on when fire lands on you and move out of it accordingly. He does hit like a truck though (10kish) so the main thing is keeping an eye on your health and the number of healers up and spamming healthstones and potions accordingly. A pretty straightforward death, as it should have been on the first attempt the previous week.

So – Archimonde later in the week. Don’t know if I’ll be there – it’s not as if we need loads of tanks for it – but I’m sure that whoever is will do fantastically in furthering our progress with him.
