An Ex-Gnome Tank's World

Romulo, Romulo, wherefore art thou Romulo?

As expected, the Maiden went down quickly on Tuesday night, leaving us to concentrate on the Opera House. Lots of fun but the Opera House has several drawbacks. First, there’s the Skeletal Ushers who seem quite nasty. And then there’s the exploding actors backstage. I liked the non-elite trash, though – giving silly rep per kill, I made it to Honoured with the Violet Eye fairly quickly.
And then the event. Barnes the Stage Manager is rapidly becoming famed as “Most Annoying NPC Ever”, and not without due cause. His speech at the start of every fight seems to go on for far too long, especially once you’ve heard it a few times. R&J themselves are… interesting. A fun fight, but needing serious co-ordination first as you fight them one at a time and then both together. And have to kill them at the same time. We had a good few goes at it, but in the event were unsuccessful.

So what is in store this week? Well, while the rest of the guild were clearing the first three bosses in Kara again last night, I was levelling my warrior. And enjoying it, especially as I didn’t have to go anywhere near Stranglethorn Vale. I’d have got more done if I’d already had a couple of flight points, but in the end I settled on questing for a while in Desolace, somewhere I’d skipped the first time because of the Centaur grind. Got a couple of decent upgrades out of random drops too, which is always nice.

About that grind – I can’t remember why I hated it and gave up the first time. Took about an hour, during which I got at least half a level’s worth of experience (without rest). Even accounting for the fact that Montoya is human, I’m convinced they must have done something to make it quicker. Either that or I’m more patient than I was before. I suspect the fact that in killing 40 centaurs around the same level as me and only stopping to eat twice might have helped too – not being quite so squishy is a most refreshing change. Maybe sometime soon I’ll be tanking the Scarlet Monastery. Randoms are already pestering me about it, and in my book I’m probably a bit low. So, yeah. Things are looking up in the revenge business!
