An Ex-Gnome Tank's World

A Night at the Opera

Hurrah for overacting! A return to the Opera House gave us exactly the thing we didn’t want – a repeat performance to the Tragedy of Romulo and Julianne. Many groans abound when Barnes the Annoying Stage Manager announced the event, especially after we’d had a few silly trash wipes on the way in. In the end though, we got them on our third try. Once we had a strategy worked out it went fine, even when Julianne managed to heal herself just as we were on the verge of killing them both. It all got a bit hairy toward the end as one tank died with tiny health left on the bosses, and Romulo ran around killing half the raid before we got him down, but get him down we did. And it felt good. Every boss needs a near-wipe in the last 20s or so to get the heart racing.

And after the lovers, what do we get? My favourite trash ever. The Ghostly Philanthropists have stacks of cash, helping to offset the ever-increasing repair costs. Sadly the joy of loadsamoney was short-lived as we entered the Menagerie.

Ah, the Menagerie. How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways. Or not, because there’s only one. Trash there isn’t so bad. The Curator on the other hand. Evil! Arcane resistance gear seemed to help keep me alive, but the fight’s ridiculously hard compared to everywhere else. The adds seem to spawn faster than they can be killed and seem to ignore aggro completely, so no pulling them off the healers. When he stops to gather mana, there’s not enough time to run back up the hall and give him a good kicking. Hopefully as we kill the earlier bosses a few more times, our gear will get better and we’ll be able to overcome this hurdle and get our tier 4 gloves.

And now an aside: Felweed! As the materials for pretty much every potion I make involve felweed, there seems to be an irrascible shortage of the stuff. Everything else is piling up in the bank waiting for me to get enough of the weed to do something. Farming runs are becoming increasingly frustrating because I always come back with more herbs of the wrong type than I could possibly use, but can’t justify selling because they’ll be useful in the future. I get enough felweed to make mana potions, and that’s about it. Kinda depressing really.
