Hello from down here…
March 23rd, 2007 Posted in GeneralWell, here I am again typing into a blogging window.
This is a bit different, though – It’s talking on a specific subject, one which will hopefully hold my attention longer than Fair and Balanced did, and with more content than the “Stuck in my head” topic of Sleep Away The Afternoon.
I’m going to be talking about World of Warcraft. More specifically, a view I haven’t seen expressed anywhere else, about what it’s like to be in a smaller guild where the players aren’t so desperate to get to the high content that they’ll leave and join another group who hardly know each other.
Why the view from down here? Well because I’m hardly at the top of the game. Existing WoW discussion sites seem to be about the hardcore. I don’t want to have to care about what’s hardcore. Just about what affects me as a player, us as a guild, and presumably many other small guilds. Names will always be changed to protect the innocent / guilty / whatever.
Anyway, apologies for spamming anyone through the LiveJournal syndication system. If it bugs you too much I’ll turn it off for The View From Down Here – just let me know.

How do you get LiveJournal to syndicate your posts through your holly6000 username, rather than a separate syndicated account? Is it something available through LJ, or have you written a script which does it for you? I’d quite like to do the same thing with my blog, because I don’t want people commenting in two places (plus LJ deletes syndicated posts after a while and I end up losing all the comments).

I use the excellent Livejournal Crossposter plugin for WordPress.
I suspect that, having written your own blog backend, it might be a bit harder for you

Hmm, it sounds like it might be time for me to sit down and finally convert my blog to WordPress – there’s quite a few plugins that I would like to use and at the moment I’m still editing entries/comments manually through phpMyAdmin.

I’m not an addict – in fact I deliberately stay well clear of WoW because I don’t have to time to spend hours and hours playing it each week.
